She was a member of East Highland Methodist Church, the United Daughters of The Confederancy, and the Daughters of the American Revolution, She also was a life member of the Women's Society of Missionary Service. Survivors include a daughter. Mrs Mell S Pelot,Atlanta; four sons Phillip J,and Joseph B Batastini, and Jack and Billy Brescia, all of Columbus; a brother,T T Robinson, Shreveport LA; 18 grandchildren. 15 great-grandchildren, and two nieces.

The death of Mrs Brescia was a shock, as Mr Brescia had just left his wife and she was thought to have been getting well. Mr Brescia was on the train enroute to Columbus from Warm Springs and upon arrival in Columbus was told by friends of his wife's death. The remains will be brought to Columbus via the Southern Railway Monday morning and the funeral service will immeditally follow from the Church of The Holy Family. Interment will be at Linwood cemetary. Two children died at birth, Oct 1902 and Oct 1906. BIO:-Burial at Linwood -Age at time of death 76 Newspaper Jun 10 1939 Page 4 Joseph Brescia Funeral services for Joseph Brescia, who died thursday morning following a six week illness, were held yesterday morning at 10 O'Clock from the Holy Family Catholic Church, Father Dan McCarty officated, and interment was in linwood cemetery. The following served as pallbearers; Joe Spano, Dr W D Harper, J T Allen, Nathan Hunter and Claud Batastini The following was taken fron "Riverboats On The Chattahoochee" Mike Rose; Bands, Circus Bands and Orchestras Mike Rose, born Michele Fiedarone in Paterno, Italy, around 1854 came to Columbus and shortened his last name to Rose for the Columbus public. He located other Italian musicians in Amercia and helped then to come to the south. Rose was well liked by the society group for whom he played most of the time. From about 1892 to 1920 no wedding dance, large reception, riverboat excursion or other party was complete without the Mike Rose Orchestra of"The Italian Band" as it was also called. Remembered by Mrs. Maude Dixon was band member Joseph Brescia who carried a harp on his back from the streetcar to the house or hall of the evening's program. He rode at the rear end of the trolly car, holding his harp beside him. after breaking his leg at a warm springs, Georgia concert. Mr Brescia taught music at home . Other musicians working with Mike Rose were George Brescia brother of Joseph; Mike Benedetto; Thomas C. Banks; and Mrs Margaret E. Battle, pianist for a short time. Rose married Sophia around 1900, who died a few years later. No mention of children or remarriage was found.

Mrs. Rosa Resolute, Portsmouth - Mrs Rosa Brescia Resolute, 81, of 93 Channing Ave. died Tuesday in a hospital. The Vigiano, Italy native lived in Portsmouth 70 years. She was the daughter of Theodore and Mrs Angelia S. Brescia and the widow of Alberto E Resolute. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs Rosalie Bass and Mrs Margaret Jones, and a son Albert J Resolute Jr all of Portsmouth. A funeral service, arranged by Foster Funeral Home will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Burial will be in St Paul's Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited tonight at 7:30 in the funeral home.

BIO:Clipping from Columbus Ledger Teenager Dies Following Fall From Tractor The 14 year old son of Mr & Mrs Billy Brescia, 3130 Lindsey Dr, was accidentally killed yesterday afternoon when he fell from a tractor which ran over him. Police said William Childs Brescia was dead on arrival at St Francis Hospital at 7:30 PM yesterday. The youth's father is a member of the Safety Board and is an executive of Archer Hosiery Mills. His mother is the former Claudia Childs. According to officers, William Brescia and Wyane Salter, 14, were using a tractor to cut grass in a pasture on the W C Salter farm on Fuller Road when the accident occured. Police said Wyane Salter was driving the tractor while William Brescia was riding beside him on the tool box. Brescia officers said started to get off the machine before Salter stopped and fell under a wheel of the tractor Coroner C F Davis said the death has been ruled accidental, No inquest will be held. Brescia had lived in Columbus all his life and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was born Sept. 7, 1944, He registered yesterday as a freshman at Columbus High School, having completed grammer school at Clubview School this year. Survivors include his parents, a sister, Becky Brescia; a brother, David Brescia; maternal grandmother, Mrs W J Childs; paternal grandmother, Mrs Mae Brescia; and several aunts and uncles,all of Columbus. Funeral will be held at 4 P M tomorrow at Striffler-Hamby Chapel with the Rev Joe S Holiday, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, in charge. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery.

BIO:Columbus Ledger Jun 19, 1969 MISS BRESCIA IS HONORED AT LUNCHEON Miss Rebecca Lynn Brescia, who will become the bride of Joe David Johnson on April 12, was honored Tuesday with a luncheon when Mrs Schley D. Snellings and her daughter, Miss Anne Snellings,entertained. Miss Brescia and Mr. Johnson will be married at 4 p.m., and the bride elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Brescia, will entertain with a reception in Harris Hall of the church. The party took place in the Venetian Room of the Columbus Country Club. The table, covered with a white linen cloth, held an antique silver and gold container filled with yellow and white snapdragons, carnations, stock and tulips. The honoree was given a silver tray. There were 14 guests invited.

Retired U S Army Colonel Mell S Pelot, 78, died December 12, 1997 at Peachtree Hospice in Decatur following a battle with brain cancer. A native Atlantan, Col Pelot retired from the Army in 1967 after 25 years of active duty, then worked with the Georgia Department of Human Resources, retiring in 1982 from an administrative position at Georgia Mental Health Institute. Col Pelot was a graduate of Georgia State University and following his retirement became very active in veteran's organizations, including the Retired Officers Association, Korean War Veterans, Air Force Association and Eight Air Force Association. Col Pelot is survived by his wife, the former Marguerite Brescia of Columbus, GA; two daughters, Martha Brook of Senoia and Alma Proffitt of Stone Mountain; a step daughter Margueritte Roed of Kennesaw; two step sons, William Land of Whitesburg and Greg Land of Atlanta; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 16, 2 p.m. at Fort McPherson's Protestant Chapel, with and interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park. The family will receive friends Monday, December 15, between 7-9 p.m. at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Decatur, Family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
